Ajuntament de Reus - Public Health Department

The City Council of Reus, a municipality of 110,000 inhabitants and capital of the Baix Camp region, in Catalonia, manages local public health responsibilities through its Public Health Department. We lead the Community Health strategy alongside the five primary healthcare areas covering the municipality. Municipal policies, including the Municipal Action Plan and the Local Health Plan, establish the promotion of healthy habits and balanced diets as fundamental priorities. Drawing on a deeply rooted agri-food tradition and close ties to fresh, local produce from the surrounding territory, Reus is actively committed to enhancing the well-being and quality of life of its entire population.

Contribution to PANACEA

The Reus City Council actively participates in programme actions requiring community engagement by mobilising and coordinating the local network of health assets.

This network brings together stakeholders from the healthcare and agri-food sectors, along with specialists in health protection, community action and local policy management. The Council is directly involved in initiatives with a direct impact on changing citizens’ habits and fostering healthier lifestyles, such as the co-design of consumer-centred Mediterranean Diet interventions through Living Labs, and the promotion of ‘farm-to-fork’ strategies in local short food supply systems.
