The Institute of Sport Science is integrated into the Faculty of Social Science, Media and Sports at JGU. It is constituted of eight professorships: Training and Movement Science, Nutrition and Sports, Sports Sociology/Economy, Sports Pedagogy and Sports Didactics, Sports Psychology, Sports Medicine, Theory and Practice of Sports, and Sports History.
Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) contributes to PANACEA through its expertise in sport and exercise science, lifestyle medicine, behavioural research, and advanced data analysis.
JGU leads the evaluation of the multidimensional impact of the intervention on dietary, behavioural, psychosocial, anthropometric, and sustainability-related outcomes using validated assessment tools and robust statistical methodologies.
In addition, JGU actively participates in the co-design and development of the intervention scenarios, particularly those related to physical activity and other lifestyle behaviours during the perinatal period. Building on its experience from the MEDIET4ALL project, JGU also contributes to the development of the PANACEA digital behavioural coach and the enhancement of the Farm-to-Fork (F2F) smart digital ecosystem, supporting the delivery of tailored, evidence-based recommendations and facilitating healthier and more sustainable lifestyle choices through innovative digital solutions.
